Servicing
Manufactures and OFTEC recommend Oil-Fired Boilers and Cookers are serviced once a year, however Oil-Fired Aga Cookers are advised to be serviced every 6 months. Regular maintenance is needed because these appliances get a build-up of soot and sulphur on the baffles, which needs to be cleaned out to avoid blockages leading to frequent breakdowns. During a Service, we check for any visible parts that need replacing, and a gas test is done to make sure it’s running to its optimum performance. Being OFTEC registered we are also required to check the Oil Tank over at our visit and inform you of any damage or regulation changes.
Having your Boiler serviced before the winter months is always advisable in ensuring your appliance will perform well during the colder months.
Boiler Service
We service and maintain Grant, Worcester, Firebird, Trianco, Wallstar, Potterton, Warmflow, Boulter & more. Most boiler manufactures recommend having your boiler serviced every 12 months. A well-maintained boiler on average will take about 1 ½ hours to service.
Cooker Service
We service and repair both pressure jet and vaporising appliances, including AGAs, Rayburns, Heritage, Alpha, Sandyford, Esse, Stanley and more.
Pressure Jet Cookers/Boilers
Most pressure jet appliances need servicing every 12 months and, on average, a well maintained cooker and boiler will take about 2 ½ to 3 hours to service. Cooker-only models will take about 1 to 1 ½ hours to service.
Vaporising Cookers
Most vaporising appliances need servicing every 6 months, but some can run for longer. A well maintained cooker will take on average 1 ¼ to 1 ½ hours to service.
Boiler & Cooker Breakdown/Repairs
We appreciate how distressing an unexpected boiler or cooker breakdown can be and will therefore always try to deal with breakdowns on the same day or following day that they are reported.
There are some models of appliance that due to their age we no longer maintain.

Troubleshooting?
If your Boiler or Cooker fails to light:
Pressure Jet Burners
- Check the programmer is set ‘On’ and the time is set correctly. If this is not the case, check that the mains switch is on and that the fuse is OK.
- If the lockout light is on, push the lockout light button twice only to reset the burner. The lockout light button is situated inside on the burner and is usually a round or square red neon-lit button.
- If the burner fails to relight, check the oil level in the tank, that the oil taps have not been not turned off and that the fire valve has not tripped.
- If the lockout light is not on, and the mains supply is OK, check the thermostats including the ‘High Limit’ thermostat on the boiler. The High Limit thermostat trips if the boiler overheats. Refer to your boiler manual for the location of the High Limit thermostat reset.
Vapourising Burners (Aga, Rayburn)
- Check the oil level in the tank, that the oil taps have not been not turned off and that the fire valve has not tripped.
- If the burner lights but won’t reach heat, check that the electricity supply is on if the burner is electrically controlled. If the burner is manually controlled, check that the control knob is not turned down.
